Chavi: The key to the title

Posted by ebitilly On April - 15 - 20121 COMMENT

For those of you that don’ t know “Chavi” is the Gujarati term for key. Chavi( spelled : Xavi) is also Barcelona’s midfield maestro and together with Iniesta have caused endless nightmares for plenty teams. Now you probably wondering what this has to do with Azaadville football ?

Well it seems that a midfield duo of similar understanding is developing in A.U.F.C camp between the Adil Mosam and Adil Patel. The two players caused many problems for the former log leaders Roshnee Rovers and I believe that they will continue to do so with many other opposition. However the efforts and work put in around these two by players such as Waseem Gafoor & Adil Asmal  have mad the current A.U.F.C midfield a definite force to reckoned witThe superb performances that came from substitutes Ridwaan Mangera & Luqmaan Laher have added a whole new depth in to the squad and there is still more quality to come after them.

We most certainly have a good chance of both divisions taking the title and with” key “performances like these it is becoming more of a reality .

All about the numbers.

Most certainly an eventful April fools day in the AUFC camp , blue stream division were up early to play Fordsburg City at UJ grounds while a few block down First division were playing at the notorious Blochpark.Lots of stats to keep track of today so lets begin…

Yugesh Parumal made his number 1  appearance for the club against  Fordsburg City in blue stream division. Fordsburg City put together a squad of experienced campaigners resembling the old Dynamo’s. Our young stars caused alot of trouble for the opposition, even though they came with 12 players on the pitch after the half time break .Key performances from the 3 Adil’s and 1 brilliant performance from Wassem Gafoor produced a 4 nil win.The game was so far out of reach for the opponents that 6 subs were made.

On the other side First division faced an under par JHB Spartans, maybe they need to watch 300 again for some motivation.Veteran player Sarfaraz Nagdee probably made his 100th appearance for the club …. who knows. The veteran at age 35 scored 5 to take the lead as the highest scorer. Zahir Cajee was caught screaming ” 45 , 63, 90,” in attempt to get a pass from hoender( Zahid Cajee….yes there names are almost the same) who in the end ran the ball out. All order was restored to the day when Ozi received  his mandatory 1 yellow card for the day. Score ended up 6-3.

The only stat we did loose count of was the number of shocking decisions from the referee’s.

New Kids on the Block !!!

Well the long awaited start to GMLFA’s league has finally been scratched of our calender .The kick off took place at a better quality pitch than we used to at the UJ campus wich enhanced our teams performances.

A certainly surprising turn of events have taken place during the pre-season, many old faces have left the squad due to family and academic commitments . All the best to them in there future endeavors and we hope to see them back next season.

The most surprising thing was the abundance of quality youthfull players that have joined us . They have most certainly proved there quality on the pitch in game week 1.
The future looks bright for AUFC and the beginning stages of a solid squad that could progress to achieve great things for the years to come seems to be in the making. Lead by our senior players our first side fought and triumphed in the end to beat a well structured Fordsburg Shepard side, while the second side were unlucky to come home with a draw striking the upright several times and a chance being cleared of the line bay an equally determined Lesco squad.

Here’s how the games went:
Division 1 :4-3 won
A shakey start to the game saw the opponents go up in a couple of minutes. But once we found or feet we bounced back to take the lead 2-1. The first goal being solo effort from none other than Chiwawa and the second from new guy Talha Bhodania,Chiwawa again with being involved with a fine assist.A lack of concentration on our part,we let them in once again to make the game tied at 2-2.
Before the half we entered there box and forced a hand ball, Chiwawa easily slotted away the awarded penalty. Second half the opponents made a few changes and there fresh legs probed our goal but a steady defense kept them at bay. We then caught a break when young star Zahid Cajee made a Penetrating run to set Chiwawa with tap in.The referee seemed to have forgot about the time and although the other team decreased the deficit to 1 goal the game 4-3 .
